Did You Know?

Would you like to be able to provide verification of your ESBN ID on your site or blog or whatever? It's simple! You can look up ESBN information on any ESBN ID by using this URL:

http://esbn.org/esbn/verify.asp?id=74519-060128-662331-45

Obviously you need to substitute your ID for the one used in this example. Also the dashes in the number are not required.

To make your ESBN number clickable simple put an href HTML tag around it like this:

<a href="http://esbn.org/esbn/verify.asp?id=74519-060128-662331-45">ESBN 74519-060128-662331-45 </a>

...and it will look like this:

ESBN 74519-060128-662331-45

Confidential Document Copy Tracking

One of our members sent me a great use of ESBN suggestion that I wanted to share with everyone. He had received a request to distribute corporate confidential information in digital and hard copies to the Executive Team. They needed a way to track each of these documents - primarily who was assigned to each one (in case they were accidentally lost or distributed outside of the team so they would know who's copy is at fault).

They accomplished this lite-DRM tracking solution by creating an ESBN ID for each copy of the document and assigning it to each digital document and specifying in the licensee field the Executive's name that was responsible for the copy. Each hard copy also contained the unique ESBN ID for that Executive.

Keep the ideas flowing!

Firefox Extension Version 0.1 Available!

This is my first attempt at the creation of a Firefox extension. It seems to work well on two of my Windows XP PCs and my Mac OSX laptop but has a problem on my W2K PC and another XP lab PC. I am trying to find the difference and resolve.

If this Firefox extension works for you, it is fast and easy to generate ESBN IDs from any site on the web! ESBNs can be created with Blog content or by uploading your digital document. IDs are generated in real-time for you plus they are emailed to you for your records. It is really cool!

You can download the extension be directing your Firefox browser to:

Let me know what you think!

Welcome To ESBN!

Welcome to the ESBN blog! We have been receiving lots of requests for information about our site, business model, ESBN uses, and technology so I thought that we would create a blog and share the discussion. Please feel free to post your questions and we will respond to this blog as well as post news.

Thanks,
Chris Matthieu
